Uniformed Security Services
Uniformed security officers and ongoing surveillance are an integral part of a comprehensive security strategy.
Loss Prevention Services' uniformed security personnel complement plain clothed retail investigators.
LPS also offers 24 hour concierge service for condominiums, security enforcement and monitoring for apartment buildings, and physical security at commercial and industrial facilities.
Our mobile security service provides additional security coverage where needed; overnight surveillance, scheduled patrolling, and private parking enforcement.
Loss Prevention Services does not have a "body shop" mentality when it comes to uniformed security officers. LPS receives hundreds of security guard applications every year. However, only a select few pass our rigorous screening process. Those selected for an interview are subjected to an intense series of knowledge and behavioural based questions to determine skill, demeanor, discipline and maturity.
We will only place properly screened and fully trained personnel. When security companies resort to hiring people quickly and placing them before they are fully trained, public safety is put at risk and the client is exposed to liability from inadequately trained personnel. Ultimately, the expected level of service and contract terms are not met.
Once past the interview stage, guards are enrolled in a two day in-class session. If candidates pass the requirements of the in-class session, recruits are then assigned to field training where they shadow an experienced guard and training officer who provides an assessment of their ability to do the job effectively.
The training officer is responsible for the final recommendation to management. If ultimately successful, we sponsor the trainees to apply for their license with the Ministry of Community Safety and Correctional Services. Every Loss Prevention Services security guard is licensed under the Private Investigators and Security Guards Act.
We also employ backup personnel. Our guards are cross-trained on client locations to provide seamless backups in the event of an illness or unexpected absence. Guards also receive initiation training for new sites. This involves a detailed reconnaissance of the site and setting a patrol plan and routines to ensure the site is adequately covered. Depending on the site requirements, patrols can be by foot, bicycle or vehicle.
Our clients want to be confident they are receiving the level of service they have paid for. Our mobile supervisors conduct unscheduled spot checks to ensure adequate coverage for our clients. Our personnel are trained to write clear and detailed reports on their activities during their shift. This includes reporting maintenance issues uncovered during patrols such as leaks, damage, etc. Handwriting standards and report writing skills are an integral part of their training. This is particularly important when guards are required to make court appearances.
On some properties, where appropriate, LPS employs new tracking technology. Card swipe terminals are installed through the premises and our guards swipe their individually assigned cards in the terminals as they conduct their patrols. The system generates reports that clients use to monitor security activity and guard patrolling patterns. |
